O’Connell Development was selected by Kollmorgen Electro Optical to develop its new global headquarters in Northampton, Mass. With facilities in Massachusetts and Vermont, as well as Milan, Florence, and Bologna, Italy, Kollmorgen is a research, development, and manufacturing company of integrated and stabilized, high-performance optronic sensors, antennae, masts, and control systems for U.S. and international customers.
O’Connell Development assembled the architecture and engineering team, obtained the necessary right-to-build permits, and negotiated all agreements on behalf of Kollmorgen. The project is LEED certified and hosts the largest array of rooftop-mounted photovoltaic panels in Western Massachusetts, generating over 200 kilowatts. Western Builders was the general contractor.
